Our Trip to MOTAT

What a wonderful time we had at MOTAT.  The children loved being able to explore the museum and share their wonderings with adults and peers.  During the education session our tamariki had the opportunity to look at different mechanisms.  We explored how gears work, made skateboards & simple catapults and played with toys that had moving parts.  Getting to ride the skateboards after they had been built was a real highlight as was going for a ride on the tram!

Aroha & Tautoko

What an awesome moment this was!  Dayton was doing a reading test with me today and Harlem wanted to come over and tautoko what Dayton was doing.  It was so neat to see both boys sharing their knowledge and understanding with each other to work out the words on the page.  The aroha that these two have for each other was very evident in this moment and too good not to share!

Wearable Arts Show

The Room 27 tamariki have had a wonderful time preparing their shoes for the wearable arts show at school.  They took time and care to prep and paint tissue boxes and then decorate them using a range of materials.  It was lots of fun seeing them show off their beautiful creations as well as their best dance moves in front of the whole school!
"Managing self" is a key competency that students displayed during this experience as they had to listen to instructions and exercise self-control throughout the process.
